Can I get the support benefit?
Yes, if you have a suitable support-need level set by the WZON. The support benefit (świadczenie wspierające) is financial support going directly to the person with a disability (not the carer). Its award depends on the support-need level set in points (1 to 100) in a decision of the Provincial Disability Assessment Team (WZON). From 2026 — under the act's roll-out schedule — the benefit covers everyone with a point score from 70 to 100. The amount is a percentage of the social pension (from 1 March 2026, 1,978.49 zł), by points: e.g. 70–74 pts → 40% (about 752 zł), 75–79 → 60%, 80–84 → 80%, 85–89 → 120%, 90–94 → 180%, and 95–100 pts → 220% (over 4,000 zł). After getting the WZON decision, you file the payout application with ZUS.
📋 The rules
- Support goes directly to the person with a disability
- Decided by the support-need level (points) in the WZON decision
- From 2026: benefit for people with 70–100 points
- Amount is a percentage of the social pension (40% to 220%)
- The payout application is filed with ZUS
🔓 Exceptions
- Below the point threshold: the benefit isn't due
- Overlap with other care benefits: mutual-exclusion rules
- Amounts change with the social pension (from 1 March)
⚠️ Penalties & fines
The benefit is not due to people who don't reach the required point threshold in the WZON decision. Drawing it wrongly or on false data risks an obligation to repay with interest. Mind too the overlap rules with care benefits — in some situations the support benefit and a carer's support mutually exclude each other, so it's worth calculating which option is more favourable. To get the benefit: file an application to set the support-need level with the WZON, and after getting a decision with a suitable point score — a payout application with ZUS; also check the benefit's effect on other forms of family support.

❓ Frequently asked
Who is entitled to the support benefit?
People with a disability whom the Provincial Disability Assessment Team (WZON) sets a suitable support-need level, expressed in points. From 2026, under the act's schedule, the benefit covers people with a point score from 70 to 100.
How much is the support benefit in 2026?
The amount is a percentage of the social pension (from 1 March 2026, 1,978.49 zł), depending on the points: from 40% at 70–74 points (about 752 zł) to 220% at 95–100 points (over 4,000 zł a month). The amount rises with the set support-need level.
What is the support-need level?
It's a measure, in points from 1 to 100, of how far a person with a disability needs support in daily functioning. The WZON sets it by decision, based on an assessment. The number of points decides the right to the benefit and its amount.
How do I apply for the support benefit?
First you apply to set the support-need level with the WZON. After getting a decision with a suitable point score, you file a payout application with ZUS (electronically, e.g. via PUE ZUS). ZUS pays the benefit directly to the person with a disability.
Does the support benefit combine with a carer's support?
Not always. Overlap rules apply — in some situations the support benefit and benefits due to a carer mutually exclude each other or affect each other. So it's worth checking which option is more favourable for the person with a disability and their family.
