Can I bring my dog or cat to Sweden?
Yes — but in the right order: microchip first, then rabies vaccine, then a waiting period, then travel. The marking must happen before the vaccination. After the primary vaccination a waiting period of at least 21 days applies before entry, and the vaccine requires the animal to be at least 12 weeks old. Within the EU an EU pet passport is enough, and you may bring at most 5 animals non-commercially. Sweden requires no deworming on entry. A dog must be registered in the Board of Agriculture's dog register before 4 months old. From a non-EU country a titre test and a 90-day wait can be required.

⚠️ Penalties & fines
An animal that does not meet the requirements can be refused, quarantined or, in the worst case, put down, at the owner's cost. An unregistered dog brings no penalty but can bring an injunction with a conditional fine from the county board.
