Can I play home poker for money in Czechia?
Yes — a home game for money among friends is legal. The Gambling Act regulates the operation of gambling, not private play: as long as you play privately, the circle of players is closed and — this is the key — nobody takes a profit for organising it (no rake, no host entry fee, no charge for a seat), there is no operation at all. Players may win; the house may not. The line where illegal gambling operation starts: regular tournaments open to the public, advertising, a percentage of the pot, club fees — that brings heavy fines and, at scale, criminal liability. Winnings from a private game are not taxed, and online poker is legal only with licensed operators.
