Smart meter
All households must have at least a digital meter (moderne Messeinrichtung) by 2032. A smart meter is mandatory above 6,000 kWh/year, with heat pumps or wallboxes, or solar above 7 kW. You cannot refuse installation; annual costs are capped by law.
