Can I use the government IVF funding?
Yes, if you meet the programme criteria. The government IVF support programme has run since 1 June 2024 and is to last to the end of 2028. From 2026 its annual funding rises from 500 to 600 million zł, and the rules were clarified (including PGT testing, timing of further cycles, freezing cells). The programme is open to couples covered by health insurance, where the woman is aged from puberty to 40 and the man up to 45. Patients pay nothing for treatment under the programme — full funding covers qualification, hormonal stimulation, egg retrieval and transfers. Note: from 2026 you can't be treated commercially and within the public programme at the same time — choosing commercial treatment means leaving the programme. Treatment is provided by programme providers (clinics).
📋 The rules
- Government IVF programme: from June 2024 to end of 2028
- Couples covered by health insurance
- Age: woman up to 40, man up to 45
- Patients pay nothing for treatment in the programme
- From 2026: a ban on simultaneous commercial treatment
🔓 Exceptions
- Choosing commercial treatment: means leaving the public programme
- Preimplantation testing (PGT): covered on clarified terms
- Providers plan cycle continuity (next within 3 months of the previous)
⚠️ Penalties & fines
People not meeting the criteria (e.g. exceeding the age limit or lacking the required insurance) can't use the programme. From 2026 an important restriction applies: simultaneous commercial and programme treatment is banned — choosing commercial procedures means leaving the public programme, which can mean losing the chance to return to it. To use the funding: go to a programme provider (an authorised clinic), undergo qualification and check that you meet the age and insurance criteria, stick to the agreed treatment plan (further cycles at set times) and don't combine it with commercial treatment. Detailed, current terms are with the provider and on the Ministry of Health sites.

❓ Frequently asked
Who can use the government IVF programme?
Couples covered by health insurance where the woman is aged from puberty to 40 and the man up to 45. Beyond those age limits or without the required insurance, joining the programme isn't possible. Qualification is carried out by the programme provider.
How much does IVF cost in the programme?
Patients pay nothing for treatment under the programme. Full funding covers qualification, hormonal stimulation, egg retrieval and transfers. The state funds the programme, and from 2026 its annual budget rises from 500 to 600 million zł, allowing more people to be covered.
How long does the government IVF programme run?
The IVF support programme started on 1 June 2024 and is to last to the end of 2028. From early 2026 its rules were updated — including clarifying preimplantation testing, the timing of further cycles and cell freezing — and the programme's funding was increased.
Can I combine programme treatment with commercial?
No. From 2026, simultaneous commercial and public-programme treatment is banned. Choosing commercial procedures means leaving the programme, which may involve losing the chance to return to it. So it's worth consciously choosing one treatment path.
Where do I apply for IVF funding?
To a programme provider — an authorised infertility-treatment clinic with a contract to run the programme. That's where qualification and the whole treatment take place. You'll find the current list of providers and detailed terms on the Ministry of Health and pacjent.gov.pl sites.
