Yes — assisted reproduction and donation are permitted on conditions under the Genetic Integrity Act. Carrying out assisted reproduction outside the conditions of the law can bring fines or up to 6 months in prison under the Genetic Integrity Act, especially where it is done commercially or for gain — the punishment therefore hits the clinic and the person performing the treatment. For you as a patient the consequence lies elsewhere: imported anonymous gametes are not allowed, so a treatment built on an anonymous donor abroad cannot be moved home. The donor's identity must be reachable by the child — that is the whole point of the rule.
