🔓 Exceptions
- A postal-address-only change must be reported if it lasts at least 6 months
- Moving from abroad, you report within one week after 3 months in the country
- Minor cases of the offence are exempt and require intent
⚠️ Penalties & fines
Population-registration offence (Act §42): giving false information or failing to report so that registration is wrong can bring fines or prison up to 6 months, gross up to 2 years. A wrong registration can also bring repayment claims for benefits.
