Am I allowed to light a fire and barbecue in nature in Norway?
There is a general fire ban in and near forest from 15 April to 15 September. In this period it is forbidden to light a fire, barbecue or use a disposable grill near forest, unless it is obvious that no fire can start — for example at a prepared fire site, on a beach, on snow-covered ground or well away from vegetation. Outside the ban period you still have a general duty of care and must never leave a fire. The municipality can impose a stricter total ban in dry spells. Whoever lights the fire has full liability for damage.
