Can I fly a drone in Finland?

🔓 Exceptions
- A sub-250 g camera-less toy is regulated lightest — but general aviation rules and restriction zones still apply.
- Indoor flying isn't aviation — EU rules don't apply (physics and the owner's permission do).
- The lightest subclass may fly closer to people without the A1/A3 online exam — larger classes may not: your subclass, not your hobbyist status, sets the distances.
⚠️ Penalties
Failing to register, flying in a restriction zone or breaking the height cap can bring fines for an aviation violation. Airport vicinity is its own category: things can escalate seriously there, because the consequences are of a completely different magnitude than in a park — which is why zones are checked from the map before every flight. Drone-based illicit observation is a separate crime, judged on the camera rather than on the flight rules. Remember the operator ID too: without the marking on the aircraft, registration stays half-done.
