Can I fish in Finland without a licence?

⚠️ Penalties
Lure fishing without the fee can bring a summary fine plus a proof fee — the fee is so cheap that getting caught costs several times the annual price. Unauthorised fishing on someone else's waters is more serious: it can mean a fine for unlawful fishing plus forfeiture of the catch and the gear, so nets and traps stay with the inspector. A fisheries inspector can ask you to show both the fee and the water owner's permit on the spot. In rapids and current waters, fishing without the area's own permit is unlawful fishing even if the state fee is paid.
