🚕 A taxi or ride-hailing driver overcharged me or behaved badly — where do I complain?

Direct answer

Taxis are licensed and their tariffs regulated: note the licence number (on the door, the dashboard, the receipt) — that is what a complaint needs. Ride-hailing apps have an in-app complaint route that refunds first and asks later. For licensed taxis, Ayuntamiento — Policía local / atención ciudadana (010) — the municipality or licensing authority — takes complaints about tariff, refusal, route and conduct and can sanction the licence. OMIC — Oficina Municipal de Información al Consumidor (consumo.gob.es) helps recover an overcharge; threats, assault or a driver who would not let you out: Policía Nacional — denuncia (091).

🗣️ What to say

"On [date] at [time] I took taxi [licence number / plate] from [A] to [B]. The driver [charged [amount] against a regulated fare of about [amount] / refused the meter / took a detour / refused the card]. Receipt / app screenshot attached. I ask for a refund of the excess and for the complaint to be recorded against the licence."

❓ Frequently asked

The driver refused a card

In most cities licensed taxis must accept cards; refusing is a licence offence. Report with the number.

Airport rip-off, no meter

Unlicensed drivers approaching in the terminal are the classic. Use the official rank or an app; report the licence number if it was a real taxi.

I left something in the taxi

The operator or the app's lost-property line; the licence number and the time find the car.
