Is there a regulated or capped energy price in Latvia?
In some countries the state or the regulator sets or caps the price households pay. In others, prices are free and you compare offers.
📜 The rules in Latvia
Regulated price
Household electricity prices are set by suppliers, but each must offer the universal service (12-month fixed price, free early exit). For gas, the price for 'saistītie lietotāji' is calculated with an SPRK-approved method and reviewed twice a year.
The market
Households choose their own electricity supplier and sign just one contract with it. The gas market has been fully open to all users since 3 April 2017, so you can also pick your gas supplier.

Can I go back to the regulated price?
That depends on national rules. Check the official source on this page.
Why is my bill higher than the cap?
A cap may apply to the unit price or a typical bill, not your total. Taxes and your use also count.
