⏱️ Fixed price or dynamic (hourly) electricity contract in Czechia: which is right for me?

The short answer

A fixed price stays the same for an agreed period. A dynamic price follows the wholesale market hour by hour, so it can be cheaper when you shift your use, and more expensive at peak times.

📜 The rules in Czechia

Fixed and dynamic contracts

Czech energy law allows contracts with a dynamically set price: the price changes during the contract in line with short-term market prices. Such a contract only takes effect if your supply point has interval (smart) metering, and you can end it at any time with one month's notice.

  • The one-month notice period starts on the first day of the month after your notice reaches the supplier. ERÚ publishes a template for this notice. (eru.gov.cz)

Normally not during the fixed period, but taxes and network charges can change. The rules for Czechia are on this page.
