Can I burn garden waste in Denmark?

⚠️ Penalties & fines
Illegal burning brings a fine under the environmental and waste rules, and repeats push the fine up. Smoke nuisance is the usual route into a case: the neighbour complains to the municipality, the municipality issues an order — and an order you ignore only makes it more expensive. Then comes liability for the fire itself: if it spreads to a hedge, a fence or a field, you are on the hook for the damage, and insurance cover can be cut back where the burning was illegal or breached a fire ban. The municipality can also demand the remains cleared at your cost.
