Am I allowed to smoke and buy tobacco in Denmark?
You can smoke, but there are clear rules, and the age limit to buy is 18. You must be 18 to buy all tobacco and nicotine, including cigarettes, e-cigarettes and nicotine pouches. Smoking is banned indoors in public places, workplaces and on public transport. Pupils at primary and youth-education schools have smoke-free school time, including off the grounds. E-cigarettes may only have tobacco or menthol flavour, and from 1 April 2026 the same flavour restriction applies to nicotine pouches, which also get neutral packaging and at most 9.0 mg nicotine per pouch. A generational ban for those born in 2010 and later is proposed but not enacted.
