Can I sell a car without inspection?
Usually not without the paperwork in order — between private individuals a valid inspection and a Car-Pass are mandatory. ⚠️ Penalties & fines
There is no traffic fine, but the civil bill is steep. Hand over no Car-Pass in a sale to a private individual and the buyer can have the sale annulled: the car comes back, the money goes back. If the odometer turns out to have been tampered with, you as the seller are liable. And without a valid inspection certificate — where the sale-inspection is required today, and in Wallonia and Brussels also after 2026 — your buyer cannot register the vehicle in their name. In practice that ends in a price argument or an unwound sale.
