What minimum wage am I entitled to in Czechia?
From 1 January 2026 the Czech minimum wage is CZK 22,400 per month, i.e. CZK 134.40 per hour (on a 40-hour week) — CZK 1,600 more than in 2025. Every employee is entitled: full-time, part-time (proportionally), and DPP/DPČ work agreements alike. The most common mistake: supplements do not count towards the minimum — overtime, holiday and night premiums sit on top, so base pay alone must reach CZK 22,400. If your pay falls short, the employer owes a top-up and you can claim it up to 3 years back; complaining to the Labour Inspectorate costs nothing. Since 2024 an automatic valorisation formula lifts the minimum every January, and skilled professions get an even higher guaranteed wage.
📋 The rules
- CZK 22,400/month or CZK 134.40/hour (from 1 Jan 2026)
- Covers all employees incl. DPP/DPČ agreements; part-time proportionally
- Pay below minimum → mandatory top-up
- Claims reach 3 years back; Labour Inspectorate complaints are free
- Automatic annual valorisation since 2024
🔓 Exceptions
- Guaranteed wage: higher minimums for skilled work groups
- Overtime, holiday and night supplements don't count into the minimum
- Part-time: the monthly minimum is prorated, but the CZK 134.40 hourly floor always applies
⚠️ Penalties & fines
The Labour Inspectorate can fine an employer up to CZK 1,000,000 under the Labour Inspection Act — and the fine comes on top of the duty to pay the arrears with interest, so settling up afterwards doesn't make the penalty go away. Back pay covers the whole unexpired period, meaning up to 3 years, which on a long-underpaid job adds up fast. The part people miss: the minimum is statutory, so you cannot waive it by consent — an agreement on lower pay is void in that part, and signing your payslip doesn't kill the claim. A complaint to the Inspectorate is free and needs no lawsuit.

❓ Frequently asked
What is the minimum wage net?
For a childless employee, CZK 22,400 gross comes to roughly CZK 19,000–19,500 net depending on tax credits. Parents claiming the child tax credit end up with more in hand; without any credits the net figure is lower.
Does it apply to student jobs (DPP)?
Yes — CZK 134.40 per hour is the floor for DPP and DPČ agreements too, so agreement workers get the same protection as employees. A lower rate cannot be agreed even with your consent; such a clause is simply void.
What if I'm paid less?
The employer owes you the difference — demand it in writing and, if needed, file a free complaint with the Labour Inspectorate. The claim runs 3 years back, so even last year's wages can be recovered, including after you leave.
What is the guaranteed wage?
A higher statutory minimum for more qualified work, graded into groups by complexity — tradespeople or accountants sit above CZK 22,400. It applies automatically even if your contract never mentions it.
Does the minimum rise automatically?
Yes, a valorisation formula has applied since 2024 and the ministry announces the new figure each January. The employer must apply the rise itself — you needn't ask for it or sign any amendment, as the floor is statutory.
