Can I keep a gun at home in Finland?
Yes — but storage is tightly regulated. A permit holder stores guns at home either in a locked gun safe, a locked space or otherwise locked, OR with an essential part (like the bolt) kept separately — ammunition always locked apart. The line runs at five: owners of more than five permitted guns (or an especially dangerous one) must use an approved safe (SFS 5870 level) or police-approved storage. Cars are for brief transport storage only, gun hidden and vehicle locked.

Storage violations bring fines as firearms violations — and the heavier consequence is permit revocation: careless storage is the commonest way to lose your guns. If a carelessly stored gun ends up in a crime, owner liability and damages can follow.
