⚠️ Penalties
Drunk driving brings day-fines (typically dozens) or up to 6 months' imprisonment, plus a driving ban running from one month to five years. Aggravated drunk driving means at least 60 day-fines or up to 2 years, a longer ban and often an alcolock requirement. And the financial hit does not stop at the fine: day-fines are calculated from income, so for a high earner the sum runs into thousands, and your insurer can cut or refuse compensation for damage caused while intoxicated. Repeat offenders can lose the car to the state.
