How many hours can I work on an agreement?
It depends which agreement you hold — each has its own ceiling. The Labour Code knows three agreements outside an employment relationship. The agreement to perform work covers a specific task and is capped at 350 hours per calendar year with the same employer. The agreement on work activity covers regular work of a smaller scope: at most 10 hours a week on average. The student work agreement is only for students and is capped at 20 hours a week on average. The contribution break: students and pensioners may claim a deductible item of €200 a month — up to that sum no pension insurance is paid.

An agreement is not "work without rules". Someone working on one is still entitled to the minimum wage and to premiums for night work, public holidays and weekends — and the employer must record their working time. Mind the 350 hours: it is a ceiling per calendar year and per employer, and exceeding it is a breach of the Labour Code by the employer. And mind the deductible item: it can be claimed with only one employer at a time and must be notified in writing — forget that and you lose it, paying contributions on the first €200 as well.
