🌡️ District heating, heating oil or bottled gas in Denmark: what are my rights?

The short answer

Not every home is on the gas grid. District heating, heating oil and LPG have their own rules, and often a different body handles complaints.

📜 The rules in Denmark

Heating without the gas grid

District heating companies may only charge prices covering their necessary costs (Varmeforsyningsloven § 20). Their tariffs must be notified to Forsyningstilsynet, which can order changes if they are unreasonable or break the rules.

  • Forsyningstilsynet publishes district heating price statistics twice a year, so you can compare your company's prices. (forsyningstilsynet.dk)
  • Forsyningstilsynet does not decide individual money disputes with a district heating company; those go to Ankenævnet på Energiområdet after a written complaint to the company. (forsyningstilsynet.dk)
