Is there a regulated or capped energy price in Slovakia?
In some countries the state or the regulator sets or caps the price households pay. In others, prices are free and you compare offers.
📜 The rules in Slovakia
Regulated price
ÚRSO sets maximum supply prices for households. In 2026 the average household electricity price is about €196/MWh incl. VAT (+2.78%); gas end prices are about a third higher than the subsidised 2025 prices. About 90% of households also get state 'adresná energopomoc' as a lower price on the bill.
The market
Households can choose any electricity or gas supplier; switching itself is free. Supply prices for households are capped by ÚRSO (maximum prices), and suppliers may charge less. Your distributor stays the same.

Why is my bill higher than the cap?
A cap may apply to the unit price or a typical bill, not your total. Taxes and your use also count.
