📝 What must I get before I sign a phone or internet contract in Spain, and can I change my mind?

The short answer

Before you sign, the operator must send you a free contract summary: contact details, main features, total prices, term and renewal, how to cancel and at what cost, and internet speeds. If it arrives later, the contract applies only once you consent (art. 67.2).

Before you sign, you should get the key terms in writing: price, term, speed and how to leave. In many countries a short contract summary is required, and contracts made online, by phone or at your door usually come with a cooling-off period. The rules for Spain are below.

The details

  • If you sign at a distance (phone, online) or away from a shop, you have 14 calendar days to withdraw without giving a reason; for a service contract, the days count from the day it is concluded. (boe.es)

  • Clauses that penalise you for withdrawing, or make you give up that right, are void. (boe.es)
  • The pre-contract information and the summary are part of your contract and cannot be changed unless both sides expressly agree. (boe.es)
