Can a company send my debt to collection in Denmark?
Yes — but first you must receive a demand letter with at least 10 days' deadline. Under the Debt Collection Act the creditor must send a demand with a deadline of at least 10 days before adding collection costs. A reminder fee is at most 100 kr, and at most 3 reminders may be sent at least 10 days apart, plus a collection fee of at most 100 kr. The collection charge follows a fixed scale by the size of the debt. Registration in the credit blacklist (RKI) requires the debt to be undisputed and over 1,000 kr, and you must be warned within 4 weeks. If the debt is disputed, it cannot go to RKI or fast-track collection.
