I am moving house: what happens to my internet contract in Finland?
An open-ended contract can be cancelled at any time and ends two weeks later. A fixed-term contract can be ended early only for a special reason; KKV names moving abroad or to an area where the same service cannot be used.
When you move, your provider may be able to take the service with you. If it cannot offer the same service at the new address, you may be able to end the contract. The rules for Finland are below.

The details
- The same can apply if your housing company has signed a building-wide broadband deal and you no longer need your own subscription. The operator may then bill you only until the contract ends. (kkv.fi)
- You can keep your fixed-line number when you move within the same telephone area. (traficom.fi)
- A fibre contract does not end automatically when you sell your property. You pay until it ends or is transferred to the new owner; agree on the transfer with the buyer and ask the company how it is done. (kkv.fi)
- The right to a basic phone subscription and 5 Mbit/s broadband applies to permanent homes, not to holiday homes. (traficom.fi)
