📦 I am moving house: what happens to my internet contract in Iceland?

The short answer

If you move within Iceland, you can keep your landline number anywhere in the country. Connecting it at the new address should take at most five working days from your request, if a line is in place and free, or later if you ask.

When you move, your provider may be able to take the service with you. If it cannot offer the same service at the new address, you may be able to end the contract. The rules for Iceland are below.

  • If moving your service to the new address leaves you without it for more than one working day, you are entitled to compensation for each day, even if you keep the same provider. (island.is)
  • If the provider's technician does not arrive within two hours of the agreed installation time and no delay was announced, you can claim compensation. (island.is)
