Is there a regulated or capped energy price in Norway?
In some countries the state or the regulator sets or caps the price households pay. In others, prices are free and you compare offers.
📜 The rules in Norway
Regulated price
Optional state fixed price: 50 øre/kWh incl. VAT (40 øre without VAT) until 31 Dec 2026, up to 5,000 kWh/month at home. Order at minside.elhub.no; binding after 14 days. The 2027 price is set in the state budget; re-order or you return to strømstøtte.
The market
You can choose any electricity supplier; the local grid company (nettselskap) is a monopoly and cannot be changed. Piped natural gas only exists in small local networks in Rogaland, so almost all homes use electricity.

❓ Questions
Who sets the price?
See the explanation for Norway on this page.
Can I go back to the regulated price?
That depends on national rules. Check the official source on this page.
Why is my bill higher than the cap?
A cap may apply to the unit price or a typical bill, not your total. Taxes and your use also count.
