Denied boarding: same bands, plus refund or re-routing
Bumped from an overbooked flight? You get the Art. 7 cash and a choice under Art. 8.

Involuntary denied boarding pays the same €250/€400/€600 as a cancellation, by distance — and it cannot be reduced for "extraordinary circumstances", because overbooking is the airline’s own choice.
On top of the cash, you choose between a refund and re-routing (Art. 8) and receive care (Art. 9). If you volunteered to be bumped, you instead get whatever benefits you agreed — plus the same refund/re-routing choice.
