📦 I am moving house: what happens to my internet contract in Poland?

The short answer

The Pke gives no special right to end your contract because you move; your contract terms decide. Ending a fixed-term contract early can cost compensation, capped at the remaining service fees plus any promotional-device fees until the term ends (art. 304 Pke).

When you move, your provider may be able to take the service with you. If it cannot offer the same service at the new address, you may be able to end the contract. The rules for Poland are below.

The details

  • Landline: when you move, you can ask to keep your number within the same operator's network, inside the same geographic numbering area for geographic numbers, or anywhere in Poland for non-geographic numbers (art. 324 Pke). (eli.gov.pl)
  • If your new home needs a new connection, the provider may sign a separate connection contract with you. As a consumer you can ask to pay the connection fee in up to 60 monthly instalments (art. 299 Pke). (eli.gov.pl)
  • Unless agreed otherwise, if the provider misses the agreed connection deadline you may withdraw from the connection contract and the related service contract (art. 299 Pke). (eli.gov.pl)
  • If you cancel a new contract before the provider starts connecting you, or before the service starts where no connection work is needed, it cannot claim compensation, except for a promotional device (art. 304 Pke). (eli.gov.pl)
