📈 My phone or internet price is going up: can I leave my contract in Slovenia?

The short answer

The operator must notify you of any one-sided contract change, including a price change, at least 30 days ahead, clearly and on a durable medium. If you disagree, you can withdraw within 60 days of the notice without extra costs, penalties or repaying benefits.

When a provider changes the price or terms during your contract, you may have the right to leave without a fee. That depends on what your contract already said about price changes and on the rules in Slovenia.

📜 The rules in Slovenia

The details

  • There is no right to withdraw if the change is solely in your favour, purely administrative with no negative effect, or required by law or EU rules. (uradni-list.si)
  • If you keep a phone or other equipment bought at a promotional price, you pay compensation, at most its pro-rata value or the remaining payments until the commitment ends, whichever is lower. You can instead return it and pay a usage fee. (uradni-list.si)
  • When withdrawing, state explicitly that you are withdrawing because of the change of contract conditions, so it is free of charge. The right covers only the package whose conditions are changing. (akos-rs.si)
  • Since 26 July 2026, changes to TV channel line-ups may be announced on the TV screen. The notice must appear at every start-up for at least 60 days, or until you confirm reading it, and mention any right to withdraw within 60 days. (akos-rs.si)

❓ Questions

Is a price rise linked to inflation allowed?

It can be, if the contract set it out clearly. Whether it gives you a right to leave is in the rules for Slovenia on this page.

How much warning must the provider give?

Providers usually have to tell you before the change starts. Where the rules in Slovenia set a notice period, it is on this page.

What if I miss the deadline to leave?

The new price then usually applies. You can still leave at the end of the minimum term, or with notice if the contract already runs on.
