📦 I am moving house: what happens to my internet contract in Italy?

The short answer

If you want to end your contract because you move, Italian law lets you withdraw at any time with no more than 30 days' notice, without charges that are not justified by the provider's costs.

When you move, your provider may be able to take the service with you. If it cannot offer the same service at the new address, you may be able to end the contract. The rules for Italy are below.

📜 The rules in Italy

The details

  • AGCOM's contract regulation has no specific moving-house rule: ask your provider whether it can move the line to your new address. (agcom.it)
  • If your provider is late moving your line to your new address, AGCOM's compensation rules set 7.50 euro for each day of delay for each service. (agcom.it)
  • Closing the line may cost at most the average monthly fee you paid, or the provider's actual costs if lower; refunds of discounts must be proportionate to the remaining promotion. (agcom.it)
  • You can cancel in the same ways you used to sign up, including online. (normattiva.it)
  • The provider may not charge you for services after your withdrawal takes effect; anything billed later must be cancelled or refunded. (agcom.it)
